The Girl I Never Knew – Chapter 1 “ I met her once… and the next day, she was dead. ”

The Girl I Never Knew – Chapter 1

Chapter 1 - The Girl I Never Knew

Like other days, this day was also the same for me. I woke up and like every day, I slowly reached the balcony, still lost in that light deep sleep. The chirping of birds pulls me out every day, it is another thing that I want to sleep more. The chirping of birds is no less than an alarm for me every day and perhaps this is the reason why I do not set an alarm.

And today it seemed as if there was some different mystery hidden in the chirping of birds. When I reached the balcony, I saw that a large crowd had gathered on the road below! My eyes were still not fully open, I rubbed them with one of my hands and then this scene became clear to me. A large crowd, an ambulance and a police car were there.

There was something strange, my heart beat faster, thinking what could have happened there? I went inside without any delay, wore my T-shirt kept on the bed and washed my face and quickly came down the stairs and reached there. The crowd was whispering something, I ignored it.  I pushed one person after another and moved ahead.

" Is this the same girl?" I was shocked.

I tried to understand the seriousness of the situation. There were three or four policemen and some nursing staff who were examining the dead body or had already examined it. Because now the dead body was being lifted. I asked a person standing nearby

"what happened here?" the intention of knowing something,

I have never seen him here before. That face was new to me! He looked at me with horror and shook his head and said

" I don't know", in a terrifying and loud voice.

I did not take it seriously. And I observed the situation. I saw an old friend of mine whom I had met last night, talking to a police officer away from the crowd. Since the crowd had moved away from that side, I could see him. I moved ahead to understand the whole matter. I had just taken a few steps when I saw that he was gesturing the officer towards my apartment. I got suspicious. I dropped the idea of going straight to him. And decided to stand in the crowd for some time to understand the situation. It was a strange coincidence that I met him after many years last night!! And I was made to meet this girl who was murdered. I was filled with doubt.

His meeting me last night, introducing me to that girl, killing her in the morning and then taking the police to my apartment, house, seemed like a conspiracy.

"Hey, Ravi, a voice came from behind."

My heart was racing now, I turned back with fear and nervousness, it was Umed Chacha. Who runs a bakery nearby.

"Why has the police gone to your house?" Surprise was visible on his face. And "What are you doing here, let's go and see what the matter is?"

No, uncle, I said nervously, Something strange is happening here, please take me to your house. I feel there is a conspiracy to make me guilty. There was seriousness on Umed uncle's face, "Let's go" in a moderate voice.

I felt that maybe he was suspecting me. For a moment I felt that I should run away from here right now. But I had not done anything, so how could I run away? I could have gone to my house and understood it better. But it was a good idea for me not to go there, you will know this later.

Today is 8th March 2025. When I am writing this. This incident happened on 26th February 2025. I never thought that this could be more than a simple conspiracy, a conspiracy to hide a big crime. Well, I don't know what is happening. This turn in my ordinary life is very strange. It has not been even a year since I came to this city and I have been made an accused of a murder. And now along with the police, some unknown people are also after me, it has been more than 2 days since I have eaten properly. I don't understand what to do?

I don't know if I will be alive tomorrow or not but to be honest I don't know anything about this murder. This happened on 25th February between 8:00 and 9:00 pm when I was returning home from work. That day I chose a different route from the one I usually take for adventure. And I met Aarav, who was my old friend from college. I had met him just 2 days back i.e. on 23rd February after about 4 to 5 years. And after this, while returning home that day, on Aarav's insistence we went to a bar. And we drank a lot while talking. I was no longer conscious and at that time he introduced me to that girl, she told me her name.... and because I was drunk I don't know what name she told me and she kept saying something for a long time, Aarav and she were also talking about RK...R..K. I don't remember anything properly after that.  When I opened my eyes I was on my bed.

To be continue.....
